Sparebank 1 (a Norwegian bank) has released a “wristwatch”-bank app for the Pebble smartwatch (named “klokkebank”).
It’s a few weeks since they published some news about this, but it seems it took some time to get the iOS companion app to be approved. On 5. december, the iOS app was finally released. I tried the app for the first time today.
The Klokkebank-app shows your account balance on you Pebble wristwatch. You can also browse through your bank transactions.
The app looks like a watchface, with digital clock, date and your account balance at the top. With a simple click on the up-button, you can hide/show the balance – great feature if you do not like to brag about how much money you have 🙂
Setup
You need to download the Klokkebank-app on your Pebble, and the Klokkebank companion app on your phone.
Then you need to login to the bank on your phone-app. This was kind of tricky, as I needed to select bank, input my personal identity number, password and one-time-code. After a few tries, I gave up – then I found a “Log in with Bank-ID” link at the bottom, that worked straight away.
The app on my phone now updates my account balance every 15. minutes, and sends the data to my watch.
Pros:
Great way to see if you have enough money when you are at the store.
Cons:
Looks like you can only display the current balance and transactions for you checking account (Your VISA-card account). I would really like the possibility to view balance of all my accounts and transfer money between them in the feature.
What is pebble?
Pebble is one of the first smartwatches. Pepple has a ePaper display, that gives it about a week of batterylife. The Pepple Watch can run up to eight apps, but you can have “endless” of apps in a “locker” on your phone that allows you to switch the apps in just a few touches.
